12 years ago there were just five family films released at the UK box office taking £53m. Last year that figure was 21 films taking £206m – 57 million admissions.
Family films are characterised by accompanied viewing, 70% of kids go with a parent or other adult. 62% specifically go with a parent. The average group size is 4.02.
