Our Production Department can easily transfer your commercial to film. We have invested in the best range of services and leading facility houses to provide the highest possible quality at the most competitive prices in cinema advertising.

Production Timescales

Please allow 25 working days from the point of submission for cinema clearance to Friday of exhibition.

The schedule below is only applicable if Carlton Screen Advertising is handling all the cinema production. Prints coming from any other source carry a 10 working day deadline.

Week 1
Day 1: Contact BBFC, CAA and CCCI if applicable
Day 2: Submit clearance materials to BBFC, CAA and CCCI if applicable and organize payment in advance
Day 3: Chase BBFC to check submission is in process
Day 4 & 5: Obtain BBFC certificate, CAA and CCCI approval numbers if applicable
 
Week 2 – Cinema production process starts here
Day 6: Deliver master materials to Carlton Screen Advertising for tape to film transfer
Day 7: Tape to film transfer process
Day 8: Screening for advertising agency and client
Day 9: Re-grade if required and approval
Day 10: Start bulk prints
 
Week 3
Day 11-14: Bulk print production
Day 15: Print completion and delivery to Carlton Screen Advertising and Pearl & Dean
 
Week 4
Day 16-20: Quality control and distribution
 
Week 5
Day 21-24: Distribution
Day 25: Friday of exhibition

Cinema Clearance

What are the requirements for cinema exhibition in the UK, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland?

United Kingdom and Northen Ireland: BBFC and CAA (all brands)
Republic of Ireland: CCCI (alcohol only) and CAA (all brands)

Cinema clearance should be done in advance of the tape to film transfer and takes 7-10 days.

BBFC Certification

The BBFC will issue you with a certificate; it will be scanned at the tape to film transfer stage so please inform Carlton Screen Advertising as soon as the certificate is known.

CAA Clearance

The CAA will issue you with a letter giving final approval. There is a reference number which you need to give to Carlton Screen Advertising in advance of the tape to film transfer. CAA enquiries should be made to The Secretary of the CAA on +44 207 534 6363.

For alcohol campaigns in the Republic of Ireland only: the CCCI will issue you with an approval number which you will need to give to Carlton Screen Advertising in advance of the tape to film transfer.

CCCI enquiries should be made to The Secretary on +353 1 676 4876 or at www.iapi.ie.

We currently manufacture 35mm prints for about 85% of the UK market and 98% of the Irish market including those required for our competitors. We also manufacture prints for multiple cinema campaigns required in Europe and worldwide.

Our 24-hour weekday production service enables turnaround time for bulk printing to be the quickest in the Industry.

Apart from producing bulk prints for you, we are also your distributor which minimizes delivery lead times and makes us a truly unique one-stop-shop.

At Carlton Screen Advertising we have a unique checking service whereby every print produced is controlled for optimum quality before distribution, including those we make for our competitors.

All print checks and deliveries are carried out free of charge on all 35mm advertising prints we make as part of the service we offer.

Distribution

Once your commercial has finished exhibition we will store the prints for up to one year in our warehouse free of charge.

All 35mm masters are stored free of charge in our vaults for life.
